Researchers showed people mixed positive and negative evidence—like medication effects and consumer reviews—and asked them to summarize it.
People relied 3x more on whether the evidence felt mostly positive or negative, even when the data didn’t support a clear answer.
We tend to oversimplify complex data into “good” vs. “bad”, leading to flawed decisions.
