During three suggestive interviews, researchers tried to convince young adults to believe they had committed a crime as teenagers by using false parental memories, visualization techniques and social pressure.
70% of participants actually developed a completely false memory!
They described the event as if it happened, including ~65 details about the setting, people involved, emotions felt, and even interactions with the police!
Suggestions and external influences can induce false memories, making us believe in events we never experienced!
