Hermann Ebbinghaus studied how we forget information over time by using nonsense syllables to avoid prior associations
He discovered that forgetting occurs quickly: up to 70% of what we learn is forgotten within a day, and up to 90% is lost within a week.
Most of what we learn is quickly forgotten—making consistent, spaced repetition essential for long-term retention.
