BIAS OF THE WEEK

Halo Effect

We make inferences quickly and automatically from first impressions of certain traits.

In video conferences, a study showed that participants consider people with plant backgrounds or bookcases to be more trustworthy and competent. Home and novelty backgrounds received lower ratings.

We make judgments about people based on our feelings about one trait of the person.
