Participants first played a game against a partner, trying to find words in a puzzle. Then they were asked to find new words in a second puzzle.
17.5% of new words participants thought they came up with in the second puzzle…were actually copied from their partner!
We sometimes think other people’s ideas were our own, genuinely forgetting that they are not original.
